It's always a great day to be a KNIGHT! We yell "D-J-O" which is the full name of our school: Denis J. O'Connell. Our student body of 1,100 is spirited and involved--from our 40+ year tradition of Superdance to find a cure for cystic fibrosis, to our Tuckahoe Elementary School tutors--there's something for everyone.

Campus Ministry provides opportunities for our students to experience the presence of Jesus in the Blessed Eucharist, to experience His healing power in the sacrament of Reconciliation, and to enter into a relationship with Him in personal prayer.

Annual Soup Drive

The Student Council Association (SCA) is the driving force behind the annual soup drive, which benefits the food pantry at Catholic Charities' Lucy Project in Manassas, VA. The event brings in thousands of cans of hearty soup every year. The first year in 1975, they collected 1,153 cans. Now, 8,000 to 10,000 cans are collected annually.

At the end of the week, all the cans are displayed on the football field (weather permitting) or inside the auditorium. The student body gathers to celebrate their successful event and pray a special Living Rosary, praying for those who will ultimately benefit from their soup collection.
