Potomac School Invitational Track and Field Meet

The Knights track & field team had a very strong showing last weekend, winning the most medals of any of the 23 teams competing at the Potomac School Invitational! Highlighting O'Connell's  performance was Isabell Baltimore, who won two individual events, the 800 and the 400 (in which she ran a very fast 59.68), and anchored two winnings relays. Sophomore Max Greczyn also had an outstanding day finishing second in the 1600, running a 4:38.13 in his first year of competition. Another great effort was by Ethan Torres, who placed second in the 110 meter hurdles and 3rd in the 400. The Knights hope to build on this strong performance as they approach the championship meets at the end of April.

Play Like A Champion: Coaches Note

This week's Coaches' Note explains the value of competition in athletics. Many athletes have a misconception about the meaning of competition, thinking it is only about winning or losing. Play Like A Champion encourages coaches to teach their players that pure competition doesn't involve exploiting opponents, but is about pushing them to be their best selves. Competition should be an opportunity for personal growth, and to obtain a goal in a way that glorifies God. Stress to your athletes that competition, performances, and results don't define who they are. To read the full note, click here.
