Campus Ministry

Campus Ministry at Bishop O'Connell provides opportunities for our students to experience the presence of Jesus in the Blessed Eucharist, to experience His healing power in the sacrament of Reconciliation, and to enter into a relationship with Him through personal prayer and scripture study. The Campus Ministry team also offers students a variety of opportunities to grow in faith and in fellowship with one another and with the community at large through school liturgical events, retreats, trips, and Christian service.

A Message from the Chaplain

The whole purpose of life is to know, love, and serve God in this life, as to spend forever with Him in the next. God created us in love. He desires nothing but our good. Perhaps most incredibly, He invites us into a living and personal relationship with Him. The mission of Campus Ministry is to accompany students in this transformative encounter with the Living God.

It’s no secret that life is hard. The Lord promises us throughout the Scriptures that this will be the case. But He also promises us that He will be with us through it all. As Psalm 139 reminds us, no matter what we are facing or what challenges lie ahead of us, He is there with us. In Campus Ministry, we are there to walk with the students no matter what they might be facing, reminding them of the Lord’s abiding presence and desire for them.

From the difficulties of life to its many incredible joys, all the way to the mundane and ordinary activities, the goal of Campus Ministry is to show the reality that no matter what we are doing or experiencing, God is there with us. This is the mystery of the Incarnation: God wants to be with us at each and every moment in our lives. By making available the Sacraments and teaching the depths of prayer, the desire of Campus Ministry is that every student will come to know more deeply the love and presence of God in their lives, and will seek ever greater union with Him.
