Mehdi El Alaoui

Mehdi El Alaoui is a knowledgeable volleyball player with over 17 years of combined playing and coaching experience. As a player, he played in high-level competitions in Morocco and Europe. He was a two-time MVP player in Morocco and three-time best setter at the junior level. He was a champion of Morocco during his seven years with Fath Union Sport Volleyball Club (FUS). While on FUS, the team won five Moroccan King Cups. Mehdi also helped Association Sportive Sale (A.S.S) to win their First Division Championship and captained his team to the play-offs three times in a row. Mehdi was chosen to be on Moroccan Youth and Junior National Team several times. He also has experience in beach volleyball. He played several high-level tournaments in Morocco and California; he was a member of CBVA.
Mehdi started his coaching career with his (A.S.S) team in Morocco. He was the assistant coach for 16s boys team for one year then he became the head coach for 17s girls team. He took his team to Nationals three times. After he moved to the United States, he became the head coach for Archbishop Carroll High School for one year. He then accepted an offer from Bishop O’Connell High School as Varsity Assistant Coach and became the Varsity head coach for Bishop O’Connell one season later.
In his first year as head coach, his team finished in 3rd place both in WCAC and VISAA. Also, he has been the 16s head coach for DCPG volleyball club and the 17s head coach, 18s assistant coach, and Setter coach for Delaware United VBC. He serves as the assistant technical director for Delaware United VBC.
Mehdi has been active with USA Volleyball. He helped run the High Performance for junior athletes and participates in the Princeton volleyball camp every year. He has helped many players obtain offers to play D1, D2, D3 College Volleyball. He is a USA Volleyball member and is certified in USA Impact , CAP Level 2, American Coaching Academy, and NFHS. Also, he is certified Coach in Federation Royal Moroccan Volleyball (FRMVB), and Confederation African Volleyball (CAVB).
According to Coach Wootten, the AD of Bishop O’Connell, “Mehdi has the passion, the expertise, and the ability to bring the girls together as a team to be greater than they are individually. His leadership can take his team to new heights.”
