This 0.5 credit class is designed for students in grades 10-11 who will be using their athletic participation to satisfy the P.E. requirement. The coursework satisfies the requirement for a Virginia certificate.
General Physical Education - 0.5 credit (Grades 9-10)

This coed class is provided for those wanting to earn P.E. credit over the summer rather than during the regular school year.

Geometry/A - 1.0 credit (Grade 10)
June 20 – July 25 (9:00 am – 2:00 pm) No classes July 4-5.

This 1.0 credit course is designed for rising sophomores who have earned an A or A+ in Algebra 1/A and seek to study Calculus in their senior year. This course is an axiomatic approach to the basic theorems of Euclidean geometry. It uses an integrated approach to the study of plane and solid geometry, including proofs. A study of the area and volumes of the two-dimensional and three dimensional figures is included in the course. A thorough study of right triangle is taught as a brief introduction to trigonometry. This is a complete course in geometry using hands-on work to discover the concepts of geometry.
Survey of American Music - 0.5 credit (Grade 9-12)
July 22 – August 2 (12:30 – 4:30 p.m.)
Tuition: $425
This 0.5 credit course challenges students to identify characteristics of types of music, a variety of folk music in American History including slave songs, classical music, the blues, jazz, country and western, rock and funk. Course curriculum includes reading, listening and writing assignments related to the music being studied. This class serves as a fine arts credit and social studies elective credit.
Personal Branding - ONLINE - 0.5 credit (Grade 9-12)
June 20 – July 25 (Self paced course with weekly Zoom meetings as needed with teacher.)

This project-based course provides students with opportunities to create and utilize a digital portfolio, to develop a skill set essential for success in both college and work environments, and to appropriately communicate using digital tools. This course serves as a vehicle for students to present themselves to real world audiences more effectively. This course fulfills the technology requirement for graduation.
AP Comparative Government & Politics - ONLINE (Grades 11-12) - 0.5 credit
June 20 – July 25 (Textbook required and a lot of independent work.)
Tuition: $350
This 0.5 credit course introduces students to fundamental concepts used by political scientists to study the processes and outcomes of politics in a variety of country settings. The course aims to illustrate the rich diversity of political life, to show available institutional alternatives, to explain differences in processes and policy outcomes, and to communicate to students the importance of global and economic changes. This is an intellectually challenging online course with readings at a college level. Self-paced with coursework due by certain date to keep students moving through the course. Students are required to take the AP exam in May.
