Three Students Achieve Perfect Score on National Latin Exam
Latin Test

“Labor omnia vincit!” Congratulations to our students on a successful 2026 National Latin Exam! Of the 75 DJO participants this year, 32 received special recognition. Three students achieved perfect scores on the exam: Juliana Egge ‘29, Penelope Kinnair ‘28, and John Shepherd ‘28.

“This remarkable result is a testament to the extraordinary effort that our O’Connell Latin scholars have been putting into their studies over the course of the year,” said Latin teacher Michael Russo. “More than that, it is a shining example of the advanced caliber, discipline and love of learning that our Knights possess. Hard work truly does lead to success.”

The National Latin Exam (NLE), sponsored by the American Classical League and the National Junior Classical League, is a multiple choice-test offered to students on several Latin proficiency levels. NLE promotes, supports, and celebrates the teaching and learning of the Latin language, its literature and culture, and its lasting influence in the modern world.
