Bishop O’Connell High School has named Russ Juncker as Boys Lacrosse Coach.
Coach Juncker joins O’Connell from Herndon High School where he served as Head Lacrosse Coach since 2022. At Herndon, Juncker was named both High School Varsity Lacrosse District Coach of the Year, and Regional Coach of the Year in 2025. Under his coaching leadership, several Herndon High School team members received All-Region and All-American Honors. Prior to coaching at Herndon, Coach Juncker served as Junior Varsity Lacrosse Coach at McLean High School in 2022.
“I’m passionate about athletics and the balance it brings to life,” said Juncker. “I’m thrilled to join Bishop O’Connell as the Boys Lacrosse Coach, and I look forward to hitting the ground running.”
Coach Juncker is currently a 9th grade Physical Education teacher at Langley High School. Lacrosse has always been a big part of Coach Juncker’s life, as he competed at the collegiate level and in high school where he was a decorated athlete. Coach Juncker graduated from Marymount University with a B.A. in Communications and he is currently pursuing his M. Ed at the University of Maryland.
“I’m excited to welcome Coach Juncker to our lacrosse program,” said O’Connell Athletic Director Joe Wootten. “He has the organization, passion, commitment and enthusiasm to successfully lead the program.”
