National Merit and Recognition Programs

This fall, O’Connell senior Matthew Rimicci was named a Semifinalist in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program, based on his performance on the 2023 PSAT/NMSQT. He was later joined by nine other O’Connell students whose scores on that exam placed them among the top 50,000 of the more than 1.3 million students nationwide. These Commended Students are Francesca Copley, Diogo Faust, Emmet Hand, Mariel Irish-Maldonado, Olivia Martin, Sabina Nagy, Delaney Park, Lily Spann, and Samantha Stewart.

National Recognition Program - The College Board also recognized 19 O’Connell students in their National Recognition Program, which awards academic honors to high-performing, underrepresented students. Students who took the PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, or AP Exams in the 2023-2024 school year and meet the score requirements are considered for these awards.
