Field Hockey - What was anticipated as being a rebuilding season instead became an historic championship campaign for the Bishop O'Connell Knights field hockey team. The first-time title came when the second-seed Knights won the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) tournament, upsetting top-seed St. John's, 1-0, in the title match. Read more…
Cross Country - The 2025 fall season was one of the best the Bishop O'Connell Knights ever have enjoyed in boys cross country. The Knights ended this year's fall campaign by winning the VISAA Division I state championship for the first time since 2000. Prior to that victory, O'Connell’s boys won the Virginia State Catholic Cross Country, finished third in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) meet, and first in the Arlington County meet. Girls Soccer - The top-seeded Knights took the NVIS crown for the fourth time in five years, continuing to record standout seasons under longtime head coach Alberto Starace. They finished the 2025 campaign at 14-2-1. Read more…
Boys Soccer - The Knights enjoyed a standout regular-season record against Northern Virginia private school opponents, racking up a 5-0-2 record against them. "We had a young team that got better each day," said Coach Jennings. Read more…
Volleyball - The Knights finished with a 22-3 record, advancing as far as the semifinals in both the WCAC and the VISAA Division I postseason tournaments, and tallying 916 kills, 863 digs and 343 aces over the course of the season. Read more…
Girls Tennis - For a young group that included five freshmen and only two seniors, the Bishop O'Connell Knights girls tennis team amassed some significant accomplishments during the 2025 fall season. Football - The high-water mark of the Bishop O'Connell Knights' 2025 football season was defeating the visiting Bishop Ireton Cardinals in a week-seven game. O'Connell won, 33-28, in a tightly-played clash between longtime Northern Virginia and WCAC rival. Read more…
Special Olympics Soccer - The Special Olympics soccer season kicked off in September at Bishop O’Connell High School with practices led by head Coach Victor Nasr and assisted by the passionate members of the Best Buddies club. Tournament play followed, with exciting games under the lights at St. Paul VI, and later at Marymount University fields. The season wouldn't be complete without an intramural scrimmage on our home field to bring out our huge fan base to cheer for the Knights! Read more...
