Daily Schedule for Orientation
MONDAY, AUG. 31

Freshman Orientation - Day 1
Theme: “Educating the Whole Person”
- Students should be in complete fall uniform.
- Mask and health self-assessment are required.
- Don’t need to bring laptop or books. Just bring something to write with and a notepad.
- Although lunch is provided on this day, any family who would like to set up a dining plan should send in an envelope with a check (in order to access account for subsequent days).
- Arrive between 7:30 and 7:45 AM, and enter through the main door across from the flagpole.
- Blue Cohort (last name begins with A-L) will report to the Auditorium first.
- Silver Cohort (last name begins with M-Z) will report to the Gym first.
This day includes:
- COVID-19 protocol familiarization
- Welcome by the administration
- ID/Yearbook photos
- Counselor sessions
- O’Connell trivia
- Lunch (provided by the school)
- A rotation through all seven (7) class periods (20 minutes each)
- Any student who didn’t receive their class of 2024 t-shirt in the mail will receive one at the end of this day.
Students will be dismissed between 2:45 and 2:55 p.m.
Notes for Full Distance Learners
- All freshman distance learners will follow the schedule for the Blue Cohort for today (even if they are typically in the Silver Cohort).
- Distance learning students received an email from the IT office regarding student access to Zoom. Please contact support@bishopoconnell.org if you did not get this information.
- Distance learners should also be sure they can access their O'Connell emails. Links for the Auditorium Presentation and Modular Rotation will be sent through the student email.
- Zoom links for distance learners to access classes will be posted on the MyDJO class pages. There will be a session to ensure student access to MyDJO during the modular rotations.

Freshman Orientation - Day 2
Theme: “Rooted in the Life of Christ”
- Dress for the day - Class of 2024 t-shirt with uniform bottoms.
- Face masks and health self-assessments required.
- Bring laptop and headphones.
- Bring lunch or plan to buy lunch (must have set up a dining plan previously)
- Arrive between 7:30 and 7:45 AM at the main doors by the flagpole.
- Blue Cohort - (last name begins with A-L) will report to the Auditorium first.
- Silver Cohort – (last name begins with M-Z) will report to their Period 1 class.
Their day will include:
- A rotation through all seven (7) of their classes.
- A presentation by seniors regarding the growth in their faith.
- Lunch time in the middle of the day.
- Network, technology and software instruction and support.
- A class Mass.
- A discussion on the dignity of all human persons.
Students will be dismissed between 2:45 and 2:55 p.m.

WEDNESDAY, SEP. 2

Freshman Orientation - Day 3
Virtual Learning Day
Students will receive Zoom invitation to three sections of the day.
- 9:00 AM – First session begins (Opening Prayer and “How to Get Involved”)
- 9:45 AM – Second presentation begins.
- 11:00 AM – Third presentation begins.
The first session will be attended by all students at the same time. Hybrid Model and Digital Tools.
Their day will end at 12 p.m. on this day.
