All parents of Bishop O'Connell students, as well as faculty, are automatically members of the PTO. The mission of Bishop O’Connell High School is to provide students an education rooted in the life of Christ and to foster the pursuit of excellence in the whole person. The PTO assists the school in this mission by uniting the parents and faculty through various community, family, spiritual, and service opportunities.
The September General PTO meeting is held with the full membership on Back to School Night in the auditorium. The PTO Board usually meets the first Monday of the month during the school year. Check the PTO Calendar for the specific time and place. We welcome any parent or faculty member to join us at our monthly PTO Board meetings.
Bishop O'Connell is more than a school, it is a family, and everyone's unique talents and gifts make this our community.

Our school families are geographically diverse. We hope to build up our larger community by creating smaller "regional communities." The main purpose of these regional community groups will be:
- Gathering SOCIALLY
- SUPPORTING each other - parents, students, faculty, and staff
- SERVING together - our school and the greater community
Help us develop our new Regional Communities! We are seeking “Founding Families” to coordinate activities and help set the direction for the overall program. Our hope is to provide more local social, service, and support opportunities for families.
Please contact email@example.com for more information or to join our Founding Families!
Stay tuned for updates. Please refer to the Friday Blitz and school calendar for upcoming events.
Welcome to the Bishop O'Connell Dads Club!
Dads play an important part in the Bishop O'Connell community, in the lives of our children who attend the school, and those children who will attend in the future.
Now is our time to chart a course of example and contribution that will leave a lasting legacy of service for the good of the school and for our children.
Please consider joining with us this year to start a new Bishop O’Connell tradition!
The Blitz and school calendar will reference upcoming opportunities and meetings. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
All parents are invited to join the Spiritual Life Committee, which prays for the O’Connell students, faculty and families, and helps provide opportunities for parents to strengthen and grow their faith. Participation at every level is welcome. Contact email@example.com.
Parents, faculty and staff are invited to become members of the Bishop O’Connell Knights Intercessor Prayer Connection. The PTO worked with the Chaplain's office to create this email group dedicated to praying for the intentions of the entire DJO community and their loved ones. Prayer requests are sent to the coordinator via email and then shared with members of the Prayer Connection along with suggested prayers for each intention. Prayer requests are assembled into a single weekly Wednesday email unless a more urgent request requires more timely prayers. If you have a prayer request, or if you would like to join this prayer chain, please send an email to Knightsintercessors@bishopoconnell.org.
The Used Book and Uniform Sale (UBS) is a fundraiser for the PTO and a service to all O'Connell families. The Used Book and Uniform Sale is offered each summer prior to the start of the school year.
More detailed information can be found on the UBS webpage:

The All-Night Grad Party is a wonderful tradition for our seniors each year. The planning for this event starts early in the school year and needs many hands to provide a safe and fun event! Parents of students from all grades are invited to volunteer.

The Baccalaureate Mass and Breakfast is a wonderful tradition for seniors and their parents/guardians. This event is generally held the third Sunday in May and is a faith filled celebration for all seniors. The morning begins with a Mass held at Bishop O’Connell. After Mass, families travel to an outside venue for a delicious plated breakfast. A speaker, often a Bishop O’Connell alum, delivers an inspiring and thoughtful message during the breakfast. The Waterford Reception Center is an example of a venue selected to host the breakfast portion of the morning providing a delicious meal and a lovely location to be in community during this exciting time.
The PTO is honored to host and organize the breakfast on behalf of our seniors. As host, the PTO creates the invitations, the menu, and coordinates with the school and venue to ensure all logistics are well managed for our families. The PTO seeks volunteers each year that are not parents of seniors to coordinate the event. It does not require much volunteer effort to support this wonderful tradition. The PTO pays for seniors who choose to attend, and collects the breakfast costs for parents. PTO volunteers are welcome and needed each year to help with this lovely tradition!

As many of you know, we usually receive more through volunteering than we give! Volunteering is another way to build community with small gifts of time and service. During the process, we building and nurture connections with other parents, students and the school community during the four short years of our children's high school experience!
Many events need just a small amount of time to provide a big impact for our students. There are wonderful opportunities to meet other parents, faculty or share a talent with others that can benefit our community. There are other opportunities to offer more of your time... chairing or supporting an event, joining the PTO Board etc. All contributions of time are opportunities to connect, with one another and are appreciated!
