In honor of Catholic Schools Week and coinciding with Black History Month, junior Billy Ratledge penned the following poem and prayer:
Mary, Mother of God
One Lady, Our Lady, Lady of many faces
Queen of Angels and saints, Queen of all races.
Mother of all, born free from sin
Her son was born to save us all, not just those of one skin.
Born to save black, white, brown, yellow, red, green, blue
People of all races, creeds, and colors too.
Every nation on Earth was saved by her Son,
Who prayed that one day we all may unite and be one.
Today, let us all remember this truth:
God gave His Son Jesus Christ to both me and you.
Happy Catholic Schools Week from the Unity Council of Bishop O'Connell.
