Alumni Reception – September 20, 2010
Please join us in welcoming O’Connell’s new president, Kathleen Ryan Prebble, at a special alumni cocktail reception hosted by our President’s Club. The alumni reception will be held on Monday, Sept. 20, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Westwood Country Club, located at 800 Maple Avenue East in Vienna, Va. Admission to the reception is complimentary, and cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be provided. Please RSVP to Michelle Kannan at mkannan@bishopoconnell.org by September 15.
October 16, 2010 - Homecoming Football Game and Alumni Tent.
Please join us on Saturday, Oct. 16 for our annual alumni homecoming festivities. This year’s event will begin with a barbecue luncheon of Red, Hot & Blue served hot at 12 noon under the alumni tent. Admission to the lunch is $5 and includes a moon bounce and face painting for our future Knights! Spirit and alumni gear will be available for purchase. The Knights kick off at 1:00 p.m. against McNamara, and the alumni reunions and celebrations continue at half-time. Go Knights! Read more about the 2009 Homecoming event HERE.

Alumni-organized Superdance Event - Mar. 13, 2010 (to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation) at TomTom Bar & Grill in Washington, D.C. More than 200 alumni attended this fun event to support the school's Superdance efforts. Visit the Superdance page for more details.
College-age Alumni Thanksgiving Break Pizza Party - Nov. 25, 2009
The second annual college-age pizza party on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving was a great success. More than 60 young alums stopped by to catch up with their friends and former teachers. They enjoyed free pizza, pita and hummus, and sodas while exchanging stories of life beyond DJO. As a special treat, the alumni office handed out limited edition O'Connell alumni yo-yos which are sure to come in handy as a stress reliever before finals!
Homecoming 2009 - Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009
This year’s alumni Homecoming tent drew a great crowd. Retired and current faculty members and alums of different graduating classes mingled in and around the tent enjoying a tasty barbeque lunch and O’Connell fellowship while their children rolled around the grass and kept the moonbounce busy.
Something new for 2009 was the eco-friendly atmosphere in the alumni tent. Refreshments were served using fully compostable products: paper cups with a bio-plastic inner lining, sugarcane plates made from 100 percent renewable sugarcane fibers, utensils made from the renewable source of non-GMO vegetable starch and recycled napkins. We also used 2.5 gallon water jugs instead of individual water bottles and fabric table cloths to decrease our use of single-usage plastic products.
A very special thank you goes to our wonderful volunteers who worked tirelessly at the check-in, the merchandise and food tables. We could have not done it without your help!

4th Annual Legacy Brunch - Mar. 22, 2009
The Legacy Brunch honors O'Connell alumni who currently send their own children to our school. This year's Legacy Brunch, hosted by the Alumni Association, included a Mass and a special tribute to Mary Ann Katz, who founded and cared for our school store for more than 20 years, and whose grandchildren attend O'Connell today.
Realtors, Builders and Lenders for O'Connell
Tom Stevens '68, immediate past-president of the National Association of Realtors and an O'Connell alumnus, is leading an effort to engage alumni, current parents, and parents of alumni who serve in real estate related professions. CLICK HERE to read more about this group.
