Sophomore Parents - The Commonwealth of Virginia requests that we offer Vision and Hearing Screening to our Sophomore students. If you would like your student screened, please download and complete this form and return it to the clinic no later than Friday December 5, 2014. If you have any questions, please call the clinic at (703) 237-1443.
We are required by state law to provide you with information regarding scoliosis and how to screen for it. Please CLICK HERE for important information regarding this matter.

CLINIC STAFF AND GENERAL INFORMATION
The Bishop O’Connell Health Clinic is staffed full time by Mrs. Julie Hayden, RN (7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) and Mrs. Bernadette Berset, RN (10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.). Mrs. Hayden is a member of the National Association of School Nurses, serves on the Diocesan Health Advisory Committee, and has been recognized by America’s Registry of Outstanding Professionals. Together, Mrs. Hayden and Mrs. Berset have over thirty years of combined nursing experience.
On a daily basis, the clinic staff attends to students and faculty who have ongoing medical needs, who have become ill at school, or who have sustained an injury. They also administer daily medication, listen to and answer health and safety related questions and work with teachers to remove impediments to learning. We encourage questions from all segments of the O’Connell family: students, faculty, staff, and parents and our door is always open.

As a unique specialty within the nursing profession, the school nurse strives to meet the health and safety needs of both the student population and the school faculty and staff. To accomplish this, the school nurse acquires a wide range of knowledge, keeps current in CPR and First Aid, and attends continuing education conferences.
