Volunteer Opportunities
Parents frequently want to know how they can get involved at O'Connell. There are ample opportunities throughout the year and you are definitely encouraged to help. The programs for which we need a great deal of assistance have been highlighted on a this page.
Please review the various activities and events listed below to discover which ones best suit your availability and interests. You can sign-up to help several ways:

2) Complete and send in the form from the June 2010 PTO Newsletter, or

Event Support:
Homecoming Alumni Tent - October 16, 2010
Help is needed with registration, food set up, serving and clean up.
Homecoming Dance - October 16, 2010
Chaperones and parent support are needed.
Open House - November 2010
Help is needed handing out materials and promoting O'Connell to prospective students.
Faculty/Staff Christmas Breakfast - December 2010
This morning event held at O'Connell is a holiday thank you from our parents to our teachers and staff. Volunteers are needed to help set up, serve food and clean up.
Admitted Student Information Night - March 2011
Greet and register admitted eighth-graders (and transfer students) and their families.
SuperDance - March 26, 2011
Parents are needed to help with security, food and general chaperoning support.
Event Planning Committees:
Gala & Auction - January 2011
New faces and talents are needed for our biggest fundraiser of the year! There are so many different ways to help us make this a success: event planning, data input, soliciting donations, organizing auction items, working registration and checkout, and much more. Come join the fun!
Festival of the Arts - April, 2011
Setup, decoration, promotion, clean up and more is needed for this evening that showcases the musical and artistic talents of our students.
Annual Connolly Golf & Tennis Classic - Weekday in May 2011 TBD
Alumni and parents work together to plan this annual event. In its 21st year, this event raises funds to be used exclusively for needs-based scholarships at O'Connell. Are you a golfer or a tennis player? We need your help to make this year's classic the best event ever!
All-Night Grad Party - June 2-3, 2011
Parents of students in any grade volunteer to make this event a success. Help is needed in many areas, including first aid, food set up, registration, security and more. This is completely parent-run.
General volunteer support:
- Envelope stuffing and general clerical help on an as-needed basis (school hours only)
- Hospitality committee - decorating, setting up events, and managing refreshments for a variety of school functions.
- Preparing baked items for various events.
