2015 Girls Varsity Lacrosse Team

Team Overview

The mission of the Bishop O’Connell girls lacrosse program is to provide each player with an educational and meaningful experience. The lacrosse program emphasizes the values of respect, sportsmanship, responsibility and dedication and focuses on success on the field and in the classroom. The program consists of two levels, junior varsity and varsity. The girls varsity team competes in two very competitive conferences, the WCAC (Washington Catholic Athletic Conference) and the VISAA (Virginia Independent School Athletic Association).

Coach Alison Shafer is in her third season as the Girls Varsity Head Coach, assistant coach four years prior. Coach Shafer sets high standards of conduct and work ethic for all members of the team, on and off the field. She believes the girls lacrosse players should strive to live according to the teachings of Jesus Christ, and celebrate the Catholic faith through off season outreach programs and giving back to the community.

Coach Shafer’s coaching staff includes Kate Culhane in her 2nd year at O’Connell after graduating from O’Connell and continuing her lacrosse career at Longwood University. Goalie/Defense coach, Jon Reed, is in his first year after coaching numerous years at the youth and high school levels.

If you are interested in playing lacrosse at Bishop O’Connell we want to hear from you. Send us your contact information and we’ll add you to our distribution list.
