2010 Bishop O'Connell Lady Knights Girls Varsity Lacrosse Team
Bishop O'Connell Girls Lacrosse Program
The mission of the Bishop O’Connell girls’ lacrosse program is to provide each player with a educational and meaningful experience. The lacrosse team emphasizes the values of respect, sportsmanship, responsibility and dedication. Playing in one of the nation's most competitive leagues, the lacrosse program focuses on success on the field and in the classroom. The program consists of two levels, junior varsity, and varsity.
Coach Meghan Thompson is in her second season as the girls’ varsity head coach, previously assistant coach two years prior. Coach Thompson sets high standards of conduct and work ethic for all members of the team, on and off the field. She believes the girls’ lacrosse players should strive to live according to the teachings of Jesus Christ, and celebrate the Catholic faith through off-season outreach programs and giving back to the community.
According to Coach Thompson, “The best thing about coaching at O’Connell is the dedication of the players. The Varsity members hold their teammates to high moral and academic standards.” The coaches are committed to providing each player the opportunity to improve her stick skills, understand and develop her knowledge of the game, and encourage a continued love for the wonderful sport of lacrosse.
