O'CONNELL SOFTBALL PROGRAM
The mission of the Bishop O’Connell High School softball program is to provide each and every player with a positive softball experience and, in doing so, promoting her confidence, self-esteem and positive life skills that will serve her well throughout her life.
The program prides itself in “playing the game the right way, playing the game for the right reasons,” with an emphasis on “being the best that you can be” in an environment which stresses discipline, self-discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship - both on and off the playing field.
O’Connell’s tradition in softball is beyond compare, recognized by many as the premiere scholastic program in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area the past 25 years and, more often than not, gaining national recognition for its accomplishments year-in and year-out.
And, for good reason! Over the past 23 years, Bishop O’Connell has won the Catholic League championship 16 times and captured the Virginia Independent Schools State title 14 of the past 15 years.
