Required Test
You are not alone if you have questions about the High School Admissions/Placement Test (HSAPT)! It is also called the HSPT but is not the same test as the Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT).
The HSAPT is a multiple-choice test that covers five content areas: verbal, quantitative, reading, math and language. It does not include an essay and there is not a section on
religion.
All students living in the metropolitan Washington area who are applying for the ninth grade at Bishop O'Connell must take the test. It is not required for students applying for grades 10, 11 or 12. We accept the results of the HSAPT or HSPT given in the Archdiocese of Washington.
If you need to take the test for fall 2010 admission and did not have the opportunity before now, please phone the Admissions Office at 703-237-1433.
