Director's Message

As I have said on more than one occasion, I knew that I would enjoy working in a high school, but I never knew how much I would love it.
Each day, our students remind me of the important mission we all have -- striving in our lives to come closer to Christ. Their countless acts of supporting each other and contributing to those who are less fortunate (in their communities and around the world) is a daily lesson for me. The hours I see our teachers investing in these young people to widen their academic, social and spiritual perspectives pays off greatly as the students matriculate to higher education. One need only look at what is produced -- not just measured by impressive test scores or college acceptances -- to know that this is a place where a difference is being made.
I hope these pages will begin to enlighten you to all that Bishop O'Connell High School has to offer. I feel blessed to be a part of this community and trust what you see will encourage you to learn more.
Our goal in reviewing any application for admission is to determine whether the student can be successful here. To me this is a student who is:
- Motivated to achieve strong grades in challenging courses
- Active in interesting and positive extracurricular activities
- Contributing to his/her school and community
If you have questions that are not answered on these pages, please let me know how I can be of assistance.
God Bless,
Mary McAlevy
Director of Admissions
