Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:15 am – 4:30 pm
The Bishop O'Connell library is an integral part of the school curriculum and serves as a central information resource for both students and teachers. The purpose of the library is to assist its users in acquiring, evaluating, and incorporating print and electronic information into their high school studies. Research skill instruction is provided in full class, small group and one-on-one teaching. Emphasis is placed on instruction in using a variety information resources and promoting mastery of research skills in preparation for college.
The Bishop O'Connell library contains fiction and non-fiction books, magazines & periodicals, a reference collection, a collection of DVDs, videos, and more. Computers are available for accessing the O’Connell on-line catalog, research databases and for conducting school-related searches on the internet.
The material selection policy is to include materials appropriate for a Catholic School library. The materials are chosen to enhance the curriculum and aid in the moral development of the students, and stimulate their intellectual development. We encourage suggestions from the faculty and students for additions to the collections.
The library is staffed with two certified librarians and a paraprofessional.
