President's Message

Welcome to Bishop O’Connell High School. For over fifty years Bishop O’Connell has faithfully served the Northern Virginia community and greater Washington area by providing a first rate Catholic education to young men and women in grades nine through twelve.  Founded in 1957 by six local parishes, Bishop O’Connell now serves students from over 80 different schools and parishes throughout the Washington metropolitan area. We are thankful for the ongoing services of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

In classrooms, on the field, in the theater, and in service projects, Bishop O’Connell students use their gifts and talents to grow and learn from each other daily.  Our strong college preparatory curriculum prepares each student for success in college.  An extensive extracurricular program provides opportunities for growth in body, mind, and spirit.  Bishop O’Connell’s commitment to Catholic values and faith is evident in every aspect of campus life, and our community is enriched by faculty, staff, and students from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

Exciting things happen every day at Bishop O’Connell.  Teachers challenge students to achieve beyond their expectations.
