Current O’Connell Families

Bishop O’Connell High School is committed to keeping our Catholic education affordable for all of our families without sacrificing the high-quality academic and co-curricular programs our students require. Tuition alone does not cover the full amount of the actual cost to educate a child in our school. The tuition-real cost “gap” O’Connell faces per student this year is over $4,100, a gap that we can only bridge with support and genuine partnership. We ask parents to partner with the school in “closing” as much of that gap as appropriate through the support of the Parent Partnership.

In asking for parent partnership in this way, we fully recognize the many opportunities afforded parents to get involved and support O’Connell through their time, talent and treasure. Boosters, the PTO and various teams and clubs activities are essential to the O’Connell community. Funds raised through the sale of items sponsored by these organizations are important – but they do not help us “keep a lid” on tuition. They provide for programs or equipment not part of our operational budget and thus, not funded through tuition. Only funds from the Parent Partnership, the Annual Fund, and the Annual Gala and Golf Tournament do that.

Funds from the Parent Partnership support faculty salaries, fund “value-added” programs, equipment and materials, technology upgrades and athletics and co-curriculars.

Why Should I Give?

In giving to O’Connell, families not only make a significant difference in the quality of our everyday programs and services to students – they also make a powerful statement about the importance O’Connell has in their families lives. By saying “Yes!” to O’Connell, a family offers a resounding “Yes!” to the excellent quality of the teaching, coaching, programs and opportunities the school provides. In addition, strong giving participation sends a clear message to foundations that our stakeholders are charitable and care about their child’s school. Every gift is important.
