Betty Jachym, LAT, ATC, is originally from Illinois and received a B.S in Athletic Training from Lewis University in 2017. While in college, Betty completed an internship at the University of Tennessee working with the football and men's basketball teams. After graduating, she completed five years as the Head Athletic Trainer at Rich Township High School in Illinois before transitioning to Bishop O'Connell.

Erin Rose, LAT, ATC was born and raised in California. Erin received a Master’s Degree in Athletic Training from Azusa Pacific University in 2017.  While living in Southern California and Idaho, Erin served as a Head Athletic Trainer at a high school for 4 years. She also worked with Club Sports at Washington State University, before moving to Virginia transitioning to Bishop O’Connell as an Assistant Athletic Trainer.

Kirsten Kwitnieski grew up in Ashburn, VA. She received a masters degree in athletic training at George Mason University. After graduating, she completed a year-long athletic training residency at the National Sports Medicine Institute, assisting orthopedic surgeons in injury evaluation, treatment, and surgery, before becoming an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Bishop O'Connell. 

Meet Our Team Physician

Dr. Ron Paik serves as our team physician. He is an orthopedic surgeon and joined the Nirschl Orthopaedic Center in Arlington in 2014. Dr. Paik graduated from the University of Virginia where he was in the Echols Scholar Honors Program. He received his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School where he was selected as a National Institutes of Health Summer Research Fellow. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine in Chicago. He went on to pursue further fellowship training in sports medicine and arthroscopy at the world renowned Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic, which pioneered the Tommy John surgical procedure for baseball pitchers.

Student Aides

A staff of O’Connell students assist with the daily operation of the athletic training program. They work in the training room after school and at many practices and games helping to provide taping, first aid and other services.
