Congratulations to Bishop O'Connell senior Matthew Anderson who has been named by the John Lyon VFW Post 3150 as Eagle Scout of the Year. During the April 19 ceremony, Anderson received a certificate along with a $300 award. His name has been sent on the the Tenth District for consideration at the next level.

Anderson's Eagle Scout project involved marking storm water drains on neighborhood streets in the Alexandria area with reminders for protecting the watershed. He organized group events to help in this effort and to raise awareness of the environmental impact of lawn and driveway runoff.
