VISAA Wrestling Championships

O'Connell's wrestling program capped-off their season with an improvement upon last year's performance. The Knights finished in 19th place out of 29 competing teams, having only brought 8 representatives for the 14 weight classes. Collectively, they tallied a total of 49 team points, which nearly doubled last year's 25 points. Two Knights made it into the 3rd place bout and earned automatic bids for the National Prep Championship at Lehigh University this weekend! Chris St. George (Jr./126 lbs, pictured top left) and Brian Sweet (Jr./152 lbs, pictured top right) finished 4th in their respective weight classes. Congratulations on a much improved season and we can't wait to see what next year brings!

WCAC Boys Basketball Quarter-Final

Boys Varsity Basketball takes on DeMatha in a WCAC Tournament quarter-final game Friday, Feb. 25. Game time is 4:30 p.m. at DeMatha. Go Knights!

WCAC Girls Basketball Quarter-Final

Girls Varsity Basketball will face Good Counsel in a WCAC Tournament quarter-final game Friday, Feb 25 at Good Counsel. Good luck Lady Knights!

VISAA Swimming and Diving Championships

It has been a fun and exciting season for O'Connell Swim and Dive! The season ended with the boys finishing 9th overall and the girls finishing 7th at the VISAA Championships. "I could not be more proud of our results- we did not expect a top-10 finish by either team, much less both!" said Head Coach Joe Smolinske. Congratulations on a hard working season, swimmers and divers!

A special congratulations to Madelyn Donohoe (pictured bottom left) who placed first in the 200 and 500 Freestyle events- she is now a two-time State Champion!

VISAA Indoor Track Results

This year, Coach Connor started an indoor track club to keep runners in shape for track/ cross country season. Five athletes competed in the VISAA indoor track meet, with two athletes racing exceptionally well! Alex Dudley placed 8th in the 1000 meter, and Maddie Fleenor placed 7th in the 3200 meter.
