The state's decision to run the state tournament at the same time lead to the Knights' boycott of the state tournament. Additional Notes

As of 2015, Reed Carpenter '01 was 1 of only 28 4x All-Americans in the National Prep's 80-year history.

In 2009, Coach Bill Carpenter '76 was the recipient of the "Neil Buckley" Outstanding Service Award atNational Preps. The honor was introduced as part of the event in 2001. It highlights one individual who has made a lasting impact through years of dedication to the coaching profession. This capped-off his final year as a leader of the O'Connell Knights as they finished in 10th place out of 123 teams.

In 2004, Steven Ratley received the prestigious award of Most Falls in Least Time at National Preps. En route to finishing in 3rd place at 171 lbs, he amassed 6 pin-falls in a matter of just 10:41.
